Can I collect my order from Simply Cladding?

Yes, of course. Orders can be collected from our premises in Colchester, Essex. At the final stage of the checkout process there is a delivery option labelled "Collection/pickup" which is free. Once your order is complete, you will be notified by email along with our address and collection times.

How will my cladding order be delivered?

Most cladding sheet deliveries are palletized due to their size. Customers should ensure that a forklift or suitable equipment is available on the delivery day to offload the material. Please note that all pallet deliveries are curb-side only. If a forklift is not available, at least two able-bodied individuals will be required to offload the order.

Where does Simply Cladding deliver?

We utilise both our own fleet of vehicles plus reputable nationwide pallet couriers to ensure we can deliver to the vast majority of the UK mainland. Please refer to our detailed map of the UK showing the postcodes within each delivery region.

When will my order be delivered?

At Simply Cladding, we offer several delivery options, including an Economy 3-5 working day service and an Express 2-3 working day service. Alternatively, you can choose to collect your order directly from us.

Is PVC cladding waterproof?

Yes, PVC cladding is waterproof, making it an excellent choice for environments that need moisture resistance and low maintenance, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and commercial spaces. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) naturally resists water, preventing moisture from penetrating its surface. Its smooth, non-porous finish ensures that water and moisture cannot seep through. For a fully waterproof installation, it’s crucial to seal the joints and edges of the cladding panels with silicone sealant and use appropriate trim.

Can PVC cladding go over tiles?

Yes, hygienic PVC cladding can be installed over existing tiles, as long as the tiles are firmly adhered and the surface is adequately prepared. This approach can save both time and labor by eliminating the need to remove the old tiles.

Can PVC cladding be painted?

Yes, PVC cladding can be painted, but to achieve a successful and long-lasting finish, you need to follow certain steps, including thorough cleaning and priming before applying paint. Painting can help match interior design schemes or update the appearance of the cladding. However, keep in mind that painted PVC cladding may not be as durable as its original finish, particularly in high-traffic or frequently cleaned areas.

Can hygienic cladding be used outside?

No, hygienic cladding is not suitable for external use. Although it performs well in wet indoor environments, it is not designed to endure outdoor conditions.

PVC cladding lacks adequate UV resistance, and prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to degradation, discoloration, and loss of structural integrity. Outdoor environments can significantly reduce the lifespan of hygienic cladding, as it is optimized for indoor use where conditions are more controlled and stable.

For exterior applications, it’s best to use materials designed to withstand outdoor conditions, such as weather-resistant panels, composite cladding, or materials with built-in UV protection.

How do I cut hygienic wall cladding?

To achieve a clean and professional finish when cutting hygienic wall cladding, precision is key. Here’s a straightforward guide on how to do it effectively:

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Measuring tape
  • Marker or pencil
  • Straight edge or ruler
  • Utility knife or jigsaw
  • Clamps
  • Sandpaper

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Measure and Mark

  • Begin by measuring the area where the cladding will be installed.
  • Mark the cutting lines on the cladding sheet with a marker or pencil. Use a straight edge to ensure the lines are perfectly straight.

2. Secure the Cladding

  • Place the cladding on a stable, flat work surface.
  • Use clamps to hold the cladding securely in place to prevent any movement while cutting.

3. Cutting

  • With a Utility Knife: Score the marked line with a utility knife. Make several passes with increasing pressure until the cladding snaps cleanly along the scored line.
  • With a Jigsaw: For a jigsaw cut, use a fine-toothed blade to minimize chipping. Follow the marked line carefully, maintaining a steady hand and a moderate cutting speed.

4. Smooth the Edges

  • After cutting, use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges. This will give a neat finish and eliminate sharp edges that could be hazardous.

5. Check the Fit

  • Place the cut cladding in its intended spot to ensure it fits correctly. If needed, make further adjustments by trimming or sanding.

What adhesive should I use for PVC cladding?

For installing PVC cladding, selecting the appropriate adhesive is crucial for a secure and lasting application. What is hygienic cladding?

Hygienic cladding is a sanitary PVC material applied to walls or ceilings to create a clean, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface. Its smooth, non-porous finish resists chemicals, dirt, and moisture, which helps minimize contamination risks. This type of cladding is frequently used in environments with stringent hygiene requirements, including hospitals, dental offices, commercial kitchens, food processing facilities, laboratories, and cleanrooms.
